Depending on the conditions, there’s something for every taste and level — from mellow beach breaks to a beautiful point break for longboarding! We benefit from an incredible variety of spots, allowing us to surf almost every day, all just minutes from the surf house.

A typical day of surf guiding
A surf day often starts with breakfast and coffee while we analyze the surf conditions. Then we choose the boards according to the conditions and load them into JOYU’s 4×4. Road trip: we drive along the coast looking for the most suitable spot. We surf as a group, away from the busiest areas of the coast, so we can catch as many waves as possible on a wide variety of breaks. Lunch on the beach or back at the surf house with a delicious homemade lunchbox. Depending on energy and conditions, we head out for a second session in the afternoon. Some days we surf near Bidart. Other days we explore further along the coast into the Landes! The goal is simple: find the best possible waves at the best time and enjoy a true surf trip in the Basque Country. The rest of the time, it’s simple: surf, ocean, and good vibes around the house. Here you’re guaranteed to surf a lot during your stay!

Healthy homemade Lunchbox on the beach
Each surf-guiding day includes our homemade healthy lunchboxes, prepared in our kitchen with fresh ingredients. Our guests often say that JOYU’s home cooking is one of the highlights of the experience. It’s the perfect moment to relax, talk surf, and recharge before the next session.

Board rental (fish, longboard, midlength, eggs, etc.)
4x4 transport to the surf spots from the surf house
Up to 2 sessions per day (depending on conditions)

Forecast for the next days
PARLEMENTIA / Bidart
Located between Bidart and Guéthary, a wave that breaks on a rocky shelf, working at any tide and in all swells. Parlementia is known to locals for its long, straight right that can work on big swells, much loved by longboarders; it was once the playground of a certain Micky Dora.
Les Cavaliers / Anglet
One of the best beach breaks in the area… a hollow wave that can become very powerful. Lovers of heavy barrels will find what they’re looking for here when the swell is on.
Hossegor / Capbreton
The southern Landes, a 30-minute drive away, is home to some of Europe’s best beach breaks… La Gravière, Les Culs-Nuls, Santocha, and more. Our guide will know how to get you into the best Landes barrels!
Zarautz à Mundaka / Espagne
The north of Spain is full of little treasures that are becoming more sought-after, since they see fewer visitors than the Basque Country… it’s up to us to show them to you depending on the conditions! Mundaka is without a doubt the best tubular left in Europe… you have to get inside one to know for sure.
